Kevin Charette is an American meteorologist working for KGET 17 as the chief meteorologist a position he took in 2022, He joined the KGET 17 news team in September 2005.
Washington state is Charette’s native home and he started his career in broadcast journalism at the NBC station in Medford, Oregon where he served as a reporter and weekend weathercaster. Later on, he relocated to Las Vegas where he worked in the entertainment sector. In addition, Kevin also served as a reporter for two years and later relocated to Bakersfield.
He has always been in love with the science behind weather and he enjoys keeping the community updated on what is happening, Kevin is a believer in forecasters giving information that is easy to understand. Furthermore, he is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.
Over the years, Charette has been awarded many awards for his outstanding work. A number of these awards include; Plank Foundation Humanitarian of the Year, an Emmy for Best Morning News, and he was also honored with Best Weathercast in Bakersfield from the Kern Press Club. In addition, whenever he is not forecasting the weather, he can be found assisting cancer patients with his nonprofit such as; coaching baseball, Thumbs Up, Cancer Down, and spending ample time with his husband.
