Robin Baumgarten is an American three-time Emmy-winning anchor working for WGN-TV as a weekday morning co-anchor from 6 am to 10 am. She joined WGN-TV IN 1996, as a transportation reporter and an airborne traffic reporter.
Baumgarten was born and brought up in South suburban Burbank, Chicago. She attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism
In 2004, WGN-TV expanded its morning news show to 4 hours and Baumgarten became the solo anchor of the 5 am show. Later in 2004, she served as the main anchor for the station’s morning newscast that aired from 5:30 am to 9 am. In 2013, the show was expanded and Robin took extra duties to cover the 6 am to 10 am newscast.
Before joining WGN-TV, Robin worked in Chicago at Shadow Broadcast Services. She also worked at WLUP Radio’s Jonathon Brandmeier Show while serving as a news, traffic, and sports reporter. In addition, Baumgarten has also worked for CLTV News where she served as a traffic reporter and she spent years working for ABC Sports while doing freelance work.
