Larry Beil is an American news and sports anchor working for KGO-TV as a weekday at 4 p.m news co-anchor and sports anchor on weekdays at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. He can also be seen co-hosting the station’s After the Game. show. In addition, Beil joined the ABC 7 News team in 2001.
At a young age, Beil knew that his desire to play point guard in the NBA or tailback in the NFL was a long shot. He began his journalism career at the University of Hawaii where he worked at the campus radio station and on the student newspaper. While he was on the islands h covered everything including; sumo wrestling, erupting volcanoes, and play-by-play of the UH Warriors.
Larry relocated to Northern California where he witnessed the 1989 earthquake that struck while he was driving through the Caldecott Tunnel. He worked at KTVU for 5 and a half years before later joining ESPN where he served as a host of SportsCenter for 6 years alongside; Keith Olbermann, Robin Roberts, and Dan Patrick.
