Jim Berry Biography
Jim Berry is an American five-time Emmy-winning news and sports anchor working for CBS4 News as the 5:30 p.m news co-anchor and as the main sports anchor at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. In addition, he joined the CBS4 team in August 1996, after previously working for WBBM-TV.
Berry began working for CBS in Chicago, at WBBM-TV in April 1994, as a sports anchor. Later in 1996, Jim joined WFOR and while he was at the station, he served as the main sports anchor. While working for CBS4, he has served as the co-host of the “Jim & Jade” morning show and the co-anchor of CBS4 this morning. In addition, he started his broadcasting career as a news anchor and reporter at WBTV in Charlotte, North Carolina. He then relocated to Washington, D.C. where he worked for WJLA-TV as a news reporter and anchor before he returned to sports.
Furthermore, he has also worked at WSVN-TV in Miami as the main sports anchor. He has won five Emmy awards and is a three-time Best of Miami winner. For an outstanding journalism career, Jim is a member of the Silver Circle of Excellence in the Suncoast Chapter of the National Academy of Arts and Sciences. On several occasions, Berry has served as a motivational speaker and he has supported a number of charities that provide instruction and mentorship in music and sports. In addition, he attended Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism where he earned a bachelor’s degree in 1977.
