Eliott Rodriguez is a Cuban-American anchor Emmy Award-winning working for CBS4 Miami as an evening anchor at 5, 6, 7, and 11 p.m. He joined the WFOR-TV 4 team in 1999 after previously working for WTVJ as an anchor and reporter.
Rodriguez has served as a journalist for 40 years and during this time, he has covered major news events in Europe, the United States, and Latin America. For his outstanding work, he has received four Edward R. Murrow Awards and two Emmy Awards. He has been named by the Miami New Times as the Best News Anchor and as one of South Florida’s Sharp Dressed Men by Ocean Drive Magazine. In addition, Eliott was honored by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences with a Silver Circle Award for 25 years of outstanding South Florida broadcasting. Prior to joining CBS4, he worked at WPVI in Philadelphia, WPLG in Miami, and WTVJ in Miami as an anchor and reporter.
Before he began his career in television, Rodriguez served as a newspaper reporter for The Miami News and The Miami Herald. He has had many assignments in Cuba inclusive of the 2016 coverage of Fidel Castro’s death. In addition, he has reported Death Row for the execution of a convicted killer and from the Vatican on the Pope’s health. Furthermore, he has also covered stories such as the Mexico City earthquake, the invasion of Panama elections in Venezuela and Nicaragua, political conventions, and Hurricane Andrew. In 2014, Eliott moderated for the infamous “Fangate” debate that was between Florida gubernatorial candidates Rick Scott and Charlie Crist. Eliott graduated from the University of Miami, and he is an Iron Arrow Honor Society member.
