Scott Sumner Biography
Scott Sumner is an American meteorologist who is currently working at DC News Now where he serves as the weekday and weekend meteorologist. He previously worked at WDVM-TV where he served as an evening meteorologist.
He has worked in all types of interesting weather from major snowstorms to tropical storms Floyd. In 1988, he joined Kean University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in meteorology and earth science. Later on, he was able to secure a job at WCBS-TV in New York where he served as a weather producer. While he worked at WCBS-TV for ten years, he witnessed to two major weather events including the Blizzard of 1996, and the Super Storm of 1993.
In February 1994 together with his weather team, they covered an anticipated Breaking News Story that later won an Emmy award. In addition to working at WCBS, in the fall of 1998, he also joined News12 in New Jersey. While he worked at News12, he served as a weekend weather anchor. He also freelanced for WCBS during the morning/noon shows. Furthermore, he has resided in Georgia, South Carolina, Savannah, and North Carolina where he forecasted many severe weather events such as Hurricane Matthew while being part of the weather team that won Best Coverage of a Severe Weather Event. During his leisure time, he enjoys softball, tennis, golf, playing the guitar, writing music, and working out.
