Cory James Biography
Cory James is an American Emmy-award-winning anchor working at DC News Now where he serves as the co-anchor of the weekday morning newscast from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m alongside anchor Jackie Layer, Shennekia Grimshaw, and Taniya Wright. He joined DC News Now in May 2022.
James previously worked at CBS’ flagship station, WCBS-TV, in New York City where he served as a general assignment reporter. Prior to relocating to New York City, he worked at ABC O&O in Fresno, California where he served as a weekend evening anchor. In addition, while he worked in Fresno, California, he received an award for his report on a story that assisted law enforcement track down suspects accused of beating and kidnapping a teenage girl.
Cory started his career in Santa Barbara, California where he worked at KEYT-TV/KCOY-TV/KKFX-TV as a reporter. His first story was on the Isla Vista mass shooting that killed six people and injured over a dozen others around the University of California, Santa Barbara campus. In addition, he attended the University of Georgia where he proudly graduated with a major in Digital and Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Communication Studies. Furthermore, he interned at WSB-TV in Atlanta and CNN. During his leisure time, he enjoys playing with his Goldendoodle named Kensington, cooking, and rollerblading.
