Melissa Adan is an American two-time regional Emmy award-winning multiplatform reporter working for ABC News. She serves as a reporter for the Good Morning America, ABC News Live, and World News Tonight. Adan joined the ABC News team in February 2023.

Miami is Adan’s native home and she is a first-generation Cuban American. She attended Miami Dade College where she graduated with an Associate of Arts degree in mass communiction and Journalism. During her time in Texas, she covered the visit of Pope Francis to the U.S.-Mexico boarder for which she had to travel to El Paso and Ciudad Juarez in Mexico.
Adan covered the Pope Francis’ appointment of new cardinals in Vatican City for which she won a regional Emmy not long ago. Other the years, she has covered a number of stories including; the 2018 migrant caravan in Tijuana and the immigration crisis at the border in Tijuana and Ciudad Juarez.
In addition, Melissa has also won another regional Emmy. She received the Emmy for reporting on the aftermath of destructive wildfires caused by climate change in Australia. Furthermore, Melissa reported from San Diego on money mismanagement at migrant youth shelters. For this coverage, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists awarded her the Al Neuharth Investigative Journalism Award.
Before Adan joined the ABC News team, she worked at KNSD/KUAN and Telemundo 20 in San Diego. She joined the KNSD/KUAN news team in 2018, and while she was there she served as an anchor and general assignment reporter for 5 years. Prior to that, Melissa worked in southern Florida at WTVJ where she served as a reporter and multimedia journalist. While working at WTVJ, she covered a number of breaking news events such as; Hurricane Irma, mass shooting at the Fort Lauderdale airport, and the death of José Fernández. José was the star pitcher for the Marlins. Her reporting skills have taken her around the world.
