Katy Tur Biography

Katy Tur is an American anchor, correspondent and author working for MSNBC as an anchor for the news program, “Katy Tur Reports” on weekdays at 3 p.m. Eastern. She joined the MSNBC news team in 2016, after previously working for WNBC-TV.

Tur completed her high school education at Brentwood School in 2001 and later graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 2005, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy. It’s worth noting that she is of Jewish descent. Her journalism career includes reporting for various media outlets such as KTLA, HD News/Cablevision, News 12 Brooklyn, WPIX-TV, and Fox 5 New York. She later took on the role of a storm chaser for The Weather Channel as part of the network’s VORTEX2 team. In 2009, she joined WNBC-TV, NBC’s local station in New York City, and eventually transitioned to the national level with NBC News. During her time at NBC News, she achieved notable recognition, including the AP’s Best Spot News Award in 2009 for her coverage of the March 2008 crane collapse on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

Her reporting at NBC News encompassed significant events such as the death of Cory Monteith, a motorcycle attack on an SUV, and the search for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. She served as NBC News’s and MSNBC’s embedded reporter on the 2016 Donald Trump presidential campaign. In her role, she was tasked with informing the Trump campaign about the Access Hollywood tape, which featured Trump’s controversial remarks about women in a conversation with Billy Bush. Throughout the campaign, Trump frequently singled out Tur in his criticisms of the press during his rallies. At one event in Florida, she faced booing from Trump supporters and, as reported by CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer, verbal harassment. Trump’s campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, clarified that Trump did not have any malicious intent and did not want anyone to attack or harass her.

In 2017, Tur was honored with the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism. Reflecting on her experiences covering the Trump campaign and his treatment of her, she penned an article for Marie Claire. Additionally, in September 2017, she published a book titled “Unbelievable: My Front-Row Seat to the Craziest Campaign in American History,” providing an account of her coverage of Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign. The book gained significant attention and spent several weeks on the New York Times Best Seller list.

Does Katy Tur Have Brain Tumor?

The rumors about Tur having a brain tumor are unfounded and lack credible information or evidence. There is no indication that she is currently battling a brain tumor or any form of cancer. It’s important to emphasize that her involvement in reporting on this incident should not be misconstrued as a reflection of her own health. The incident highlights the potential for misinformation on the internet, and it underscores the need for responsible consumption of news and information.

In an era where information spreads rapidly through social media, it is crucial for individuals to verify the authenticity of claims before sharing them. Journalists like Tur, committed to informing the public, can unintentionally become the subjects of baseless rumors and speculation.
