Tom Foreman Biography
Tom Foreman is an American anchor and reporter working for CNN as a news correspondent. He joined the CNN news team in June 2004, after previously working for ABC News.

Foreman has been a journalist for more than 30 years and has been involved in almost every big news story during that time. He has won an Emmy award for his work. Foreman has been to more than twenty countries and all fifty U.S. states to report on a wide range of topics, such as CNN’s America’s Choice 2016 presidential campaign, the Paris attacks, the search for missing passenger plane MH370, and the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Foreman is in charge of the network’s fact-checking program. In 2013, he and the fact-checking team won the Walter Cronkite/Brooks Jackson Award.
Foreman started working for CNN in 2004 and is now based in their Washington, D.C. bureau. There, he covers a wide range of topics for the network and writes for shows from The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer to Anderson Cooper 360º. Foreman was one of the main people behind CNN’s groundbreaking work in new media. Moreover, he was a big part of creating an immersive, 3-D Virtual Studio that has taken viewers into space to study satellites, and faraway battlefields to help people understand dangerous conflicts better and to take a deep dive analysis of the 2016 election cycle.
Foreman also has a weekly newspaper piece, has written more than 1400 open letters to President Obama on CNN.com, and hosts CNN’s New Year’s Eve show that looks back at the past year. Foreman’s first job as a reporter was at a small radio station in Alabama when he was still in high school. He worked for WSFA in Montgomery, Alabama, and then for WWL-TV in New Orleans, Louisiana, after college. In addition, he worked as a traveling reporter for ABC News out of its Denver office for 10 years. Moreover, in 2000, Foreman went to Washington, D.C., to work as a senior anchor for National Geographic and as the managing editor for Inside Base Camp. It was for this job that he won his second Emmy Award as best interviewer.
Foreman graduated Magna Cum Laude from Troy State University in Troy, Alabama. He also has an honors doctorate from Quinnipiac University. Moreover, he loves ultramarathons and often runs in races that are 50 miles or longer. In addition, the most recent book that Foreman wrote was called My Year of Running Dangerously. It was about his trip through four half-marathons, three marathons, and one 55-mile race.
