Natasha Chen is an American anchor working for CNN as a national correspondent. She joined the CNN news team in September 2017, after previously working for KIRO TV.

Chen works as a correspondent for CNN and is based in Los Angeles. Chen has reported on numerous topics, from the mass shooting in Monterey Park to big strikes by entertainment and healthcare workers to changes in the theme park business. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she went all over the Southeast writing about how different states handled masking, giving out vaccines, and reopening. She also wrote about the experiences of business owners, renters and landlords, immigrants, teachers, and parents.
The 2021 shootings at an Atlanta spa and the 2020 Black Lives Matter riots were also in the news. She worked at the U.S.-Mexico border in 2019 to cover families who were split up because of the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy. Chen used to be a reporter for CNN Newsource. He covered events in Congress, mass shootings, hurricanes, and wildfires for about 1,000 global affiliates. She also wrote original pieces for affiliates about how technology and public safety are connected, as well as the view of a North Korean refugee before President Trump’s first meeting with Kim Jong-Un.
She started as a reporter and weekend anchor for KXXV in Killeen, Texas. There, she covered major news like the Fort Hood shooting in 2009 and other events. After that, she worked at WREG in Memphis and then at KIRO 7 News in Seattle, where she reported on issues like schooling, income inequality, and the cost of housing. Sharing the 2015 Northwest Emmy Award for team coverage, Chen was recognized for her reporting on a fatal Ride the Ducks crash she saw. Chen is from the San Francisco Bay Area and finished Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in psychology from Stanford University. He then went on to get an M.A. in broadcast journalism from the University of Southern California. After graduating, she worked as an intern at KPIX as an assignment Desk Intern and Eye on the Bay Intern for five months. She also interned at an Associated Press as a Television News intern in Hong Kong for three months. Chen then got her first job as a Supervising Producer at Impact News Magazine Show. This is located in the Greater Los Angeles area from August 2006 to May 2008.
She then moved to ABC News as a General Assignment Intern, in Los Angeles for five months. In May 2008, she became a Multimedia Fellow at News 21- Knight and Carnegie Foundations Fellowship in the Greater Los Angeles Area for four months. She also worked at Kaplan as an SAT Instructor and Tutor in the San Fransisco Bay Area from June 2003 to April 2009. Moreover, she worked as the Off the Bus Reporter at HuffingtonPost.com in the San Fransisco Bay Area for one year.
