Ryan Matoush Biography
Ryan Matoush is an American meteorologist working for FOX21 as a weekend evening meteorologist. He joined the FOX21 news team in September 2020, after previously working for KTWO-TV.
Matoush is the newest addition to the FOX21 News team, taking on the role of a meteorologist responsible for weekend evening forecasts starting at 9 p.m. In addition to on-air forecasting, he will be reporting live on local weather conditions and hosting a segment called ‘Toush Talk,’ where he discusses current weather topics from around the region with Matt Meister and the morning crew. Having relocated from Topeka, Kansas, he spent three years forecasting a diverse range of weather phenomena, including hail storms, tornadoes, blizzards, floods, wildfires, heat waves, and extreme cold snaps. Experiencing the dynamic weather of Tornado Alley has prepared him for the challenges of forecasting in Southern Colorado. A Colorado native, he is thrilled to be back home forecasting for his home state.
Growing up in Thornton, just north of Denver, he developed a deep interest in weather from a young age, particularly during thunderstorms in the Colorado Front Range. His passion led him to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology with a Mathematics Minor at Metropolitan State University of Denver. He believes that earning his degree in Colorado uniquely equipped him to understand the complex and ever-changing weather patterns of the state. Additionally, he has strong family ties in Denver, where the majority of his family resides. He lives with his cat PopTart, whom he rescued from the streets during his time in Kansas. A Rubik’s Cube enthusiast, he enjoys solving them in his free time, with his fastest time solved being 22 seconds. Additionally, he is an avid storm chaser and spends his days off exploring the Central Plains in search of the next significant thunderstorm.
