Jason Pires Biography
Jason Pires is a Canadian anchor and reporter working for Global News as a co-anchor for Global News Morning. He joined the Global News news team in January 2024, after previously working for CTV Vancouver.
Pires, a well-known figure in British Columbia for over two decades, is a recipient of multiple Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) and Edward R. Murrow Awards. He now takes on the role of co-anchor for BC’s leading morning news program, Global News Morning. He embarked on his broadcasting journey at CHEK TV before transitioning to CTV Vancouver Island as the sports director, anchor and reporter. Making his way to metro Vancouver, he co-hosted Vancouver’s CTV Morning Live for seven years and served as the anchor of CTV News at Noon before joining Global BC. Born and raised in Victoria, B.C., his passion for broadcast news was kindled in his youth while watching Global BC’s News Hour at 6 with his family.

Pires, a key figure at CTV Vancouver since 2001, recently announced his departure. Commencing his professional career at CHEK-TV in his hometown of Victoria, British Columbia, Pires moved to the Vancouver Bureau in 2008, undertaking diverse roles such as sports director, anchor, and reporter. From 2017 until the shifts at Bell Media in June, he co-hosted the local version of CTV Morning Live alongside Keri Adams.
Post his tenure at CTV, Pires has crossed over to Global BC’s Global News Morning, taking on the position of noon anchor. In an official statement from Corus Entertainment, Pires expressed his enthusiasm for this new chapter with Global BC. Global BC holds a special significance for Pires, as it was originally BC TV during Expo 86 that ignited his interest in pursuing a career in broadcast journalism.
