David Spunt is an American anchor and reporter working for FOX NEWS as a Washington D.C. -based correspondent. He joined the FOX NEWS news team in December 2018, after previously working for WBTV-TV (CBS).
Spunt earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and journalism from Miami University. In the initial stages of his career, he served as a reporter for WAFB-TV (CBS) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. During this period, he delivered seven weeks of live coverage from the Louisiana coast, focusing on the Gulf of Mexico oil disaster. Furthermore, he dedicated two years to reporting at WRBL-TV (CBS) in Columbus, Georgia. From 2014 to 2018, he served as the lead reporter for the 11 p.m. newscast with the CBS 3 News team in Philadelphia. During this time, he extensively covered local and state issues in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. In 2016, he provided live reports from the floor of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
Prior to his tenure in Philadelphia, he spent two years as the lead reporter for the 11 p.m. newscast at WBTV-TV (CBS) in Charlotte, North Carolina. During this period, he reported live from the floor at the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte as well. Currently, he acts as a Washington D.C.-based correspondent for FOX News Channel (FNC) since joining the network in December 2018. In his most recent role, he delivered up-to-the-minute breaking election news from Washington, DC, as part of FNC’s Democracy 2020 election coverage. Throughout his tenure at FNC, he has reported on various stories related to President Donald Trump’s administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Department of Justice (DOJ), and other significant topics and events.
