Dave Evans is an Australian singer who was the original lead singer for the Australian hard rock band AC/DC from the year 1973 to 1974.

Dave Evans is an Australian singer who was the original lead singer for the Australian hard rock band AC/DC from the year 1973 to 1974. He did sing on the AC/DC debut single before being replaced by Bon Scott. In  2000, he resumed a solo career.

He was born in the Welsh town of Carmarthen however, his family later relocated to Australia while he was five years old. His family settled in the Queensland city of Townsville and later moved to Charters Towers, where he formed his first band at the age of seventeen. Not long after, he relocated to Sydney.

In addition, he was a member of AC/DC before the band matured and began to play all original music, along with Larry Van Kriedt and Colin Burgess. He joined the AC/DC band in November 1973 and left the band in September 1974 before he was replated in October 1974 by Bon Scott.

Furthermore, while he was with AC/DC, he recorded one single which he named Can I Sit Next To You, Girl in 1974, which was released in Australia and New Zealand. Later on, the song was re-recorded with Bon Scott in 1975. In addition, after the group replaced him with Scott, they also did change their sound from glam rock to harder blues-rock.

The former AC/DC manager Michael Browning wrote in his memoir called Dog Eat Dog of Evans stating that Dave could sing however, he just did not have the character Bon brought into the band.

After Evans left AC/DC, he joined Newcastle (New South Wales) band Rabbit where he replated original singer Greg Douglas. While he was with the group, it released six singles and two albums from 1975 to 1977. Its second album Too Much Rock N Roll was released in Europe and Japan.

In addition, Evans has been in other groups such as Dave Evans Thunder Down Under, Dave Evans & Hot Cockerel. Furthermore, he also did release a live recording called A Hell of a Night that was a memorial gig for Bon Scott which was recorded on the 20th anniversary of Scott’s death, with Melbourne AC/DC tribute band Thunderstruck. From that moment, he has released six solo CDs.
