Trace Gallagher is an American anchor working for FOX NEWS as a chief breaking news correspondent and anchor of “Fox News @ Night,” Fox News’ late-night news program on weeknights, 11 PM/ET. He joined the FOX news team in 1996, after previously working for NBC.
Gallagher’s background includes growing up in the ski resort town of Mammoth Lakes, California, where he served as the quarterback for the Mammoth Huskies high school football team. He completed his high school education in 1979. Subsequently, he pursued higher education at the University of San Diego, majoring in business. During his time at the university, he also played as the quarterback for the Torero football team. Additionally, he has also attended Antelope Valley College, where he was named a distinguished alumnus.
He worked as an anchor and reporter for local NBC stations in Las Vegas, Boise, Idaho, and Yuma, Arizona, as well as the local CBS station in Orlando, Florida. An original member of FOX News, Gallagher joined the network at its inception in 1996, covering major breaking news stories over the past 26 years. Recently, he reported live from Jerusalem during the Israel-Hamas war and contributed to FNC’s Midterm Election coverage in 2022. Previously, he delivered live coverage of events such as the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and the California recall election of Governor Gavin Newsom in 2021.
Throughout his lengthy tenure with the network, he has reported on numerous international stories, including conflicts in the Middle East and the Southeast Asia tsunami. His coverage of Hurricane Harvey in Texas and the Las Vegas mass shooting in 2017 earned critical acclaim. In New York, he spent five years as the co-anchor of FNC’s The Live Desk alongside Martha MacCallum. On February 1, 2010, The Live Desk was succeeded by America Live with Megyn Kelly. He has since remained an anchor and reporter for various Fox programs. Notably, on September 21, 2022, he assumed the role of permanent host for Fox News @ Night, taking over from the original host Shannon Bream, who was appointed as the host of Fox News Sunday. He has been at the helm of the program since October 3, 2022.
