Balint Szalavari is an American meteorologist working for WEEK 25 as a weekend morning and midday meteorologist for 25News at 11. He joined the WEEK 25 news team in June 2021, after previously working for Heartland Media LLC.
Szalavari developed a keen interest in the dynamic weather patterns of the Midwest from a young age, and this fascination persisted over the years. He pursued his education at Ball State University, graduating in 2018 with a degree in Meteorology and Climatology with minors in telecommunications and German. During his time at university, he honed his skills as an intern at WISH-TV and enthusiastically engaged in storm chasing whenever the opportunity arose. Upon completing his degree, he embarked on his broadcasting career at WLFI in West Lafayette, Indiana, where he served as the Weekend Meteorologist and a Multi-Platform Journalist.
After three years, he made Central Illinois his new home, joining 25News in the summer of 2021. Beyond his professional pursuits, he finds joy in exploring the outdoors throughout Central Illinois, passionately supporting his favorite soccer club, Chelsea, and savoring the diverse culinary offerings in the region. An avid traveler, he has ventured to more than 35 states and 10 countries. In addition to this, he also loves listening to podcasts and spending time with family.
