Amber Krycka is an American anchor working for WEEK 25 as a co-anchor of 25 News at 5pm, 6pm and 10pm alongside Tyler Lopez. She joined the WEEK 25 news team in August 2016, after previously working for WJAX-TV.
Krycka graduated from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Journalism in 2010. Previously in a reporter and anchor role at WJAX-TV in Jacksonville, Florida, Krycka is a dedicated journalist known for infusing passion and commitment into every story she covers. Before joining the Action News Jax team in August 2016, she worked at WTVQ in Lexington, Kentucky. Her journalistic journey began in North Platte, Nebraska, where she served as both a reporter and news anchor.
Throughout her career, she has encountered historic events and notable individuals. Her reporting includes coverage of hurricanes in Florida, multiple Kentucky Derbies, tornadoes in Nebraska, the historic Senate race between Mitch McConnell and Alison Grimes, and various national events. Among her accomplishments, she takes pride in her role in pushing a firefighter cancer bill through the Kentucky state legislature.
This effort stemmed from her reporting on a Lexington firefighter who was diagnosed with cancer and ultimately passed away after a prolonged battle. She has also contributed to raising awareness about homeless veterans in central Kentucky through extensive reporting on their challenging circumstances. At WEEK, Krycka steps into the role previously held by Caitlin Knute, who served as co-anchor alongside Lopez for four years during her second stint in the Peoria market. In June, Knute departed to assume the position of anchor and investigative reporter at KSHB-TV, the NBC affiliate in Kansas City, Missouri.
