Nicole Livas Biography
Nicole Livas is an American chief communications and community engagement officer working for Virginia Beach City Schools as a director of communications. She joined the Virginia Beach City Schools in November 2023, after previously working for 13News.
Nicole Livas Career
Livas previously spent four years working as an evening anchor and special projects reporter at 13News Now (WVEC), in Norfolk, Virginia. She landed her first on-air reporting job in Ohio less than a year later and then worked at WJAR-TV in Providence, Rhode Island Area. There, she anchored the 5:30 p.m. newscast and reported on breaking, local affairs, consumer, entertainment, and education news for the top-rated, award-winning NBC-owned and operated station in Providence, Rhode Island. She also anchored the startup 10 p.m. newscast on sister station, WLWC-TV, WB.
In 2001, Livas returned to Norfolk, where she worked at the top-rated and award-winning station, WAVY-TV 10. There, she anchored 5, 6, and 11 p.m. newscasts as well as the 10 p.m. newscast on WVBT Fox 43 in Norfolk, Virginia. She also hosted the community affairs program, “Families First”, anchored news headlines on WNIS-AM, and volunteered on the holiday party committee and with the United Way Campaign for the stations.
Readers of Coastal Virginia Magazine chose Livas as the best female newscaster multiple times in her more than 20 years of providing news coverage in Hampton Roads. In addition, she is a multimedia journalist nominated for an Emmy and has received recognition from the Virginia Association of Broadcasters and The Hampton Roads Black Media Professionals.

Her other grandfather John Perry taught high school physics and was the first African-American City Councilman in Virginia Beach. Both of her grandmothers were teachers as well.
