Jackie Nespral is an American Emmy award-winning anchor working for WTVJ as a weekday evening co-anchor at 5 pm and 6 pm alongside Jawan Strader. She also serves as the host of NBC6 Impact on Sundays at 9:30 a.m.
Jackie Nespral Career
Nespral first joined the NBC6 network in 1992, as an anchor on the Weekend Today show. Prior to joining NBC 6, Jackie commuted between New York and Miami for three years and while she was there, she served as an anchor. While working for NBC News, Jackie was known for her interviews with well-known figures ranging from national and international leaders to celebrities. In addition, Jackie has extensively covered stories such as; Papal visits to Cuba, presidential debates, the World Series, and NBA championships, presidential inaugurations, the first US presidential visit to Havana, and hurricanes.
Furthermore, for Nespral’s outstanding work over the last 30 years as an anchor, she has received 6 Emmy awards and a Silver Circle Award. Before Jackie joined NBC News, she served as the anchor of the one-hour live national newscast of “Noticias y Más” at the Univision network in 1991. Nespral has also worked for Dynamic Cablevision, a CNN affiliate in Miami while serving as a reporter and weekend anchor.
South Florida is Jackie’s native home and she is a former member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Miami. While she served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Miami, she also served as the first Hispanic woman president of the University of Miami Alumni Association. In addition, Jackie is also an active board member of Amigos for Kids. In addition, Jackie was also on the board of directors of the School of Communications at The University of Miami, the Columbia Women’s Center, the Board of Directors for the March of Dimes, and South Miami Hospital’s Child Development Center.
From 1985 to 1986, Nespral served as the Orange Bowl Queen and this gained her a unique perspective of the community. She attended the University of Miami where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology with a minor in communications. In addition, she also studied at Florida International University where she completed two years of post-graduate studies in print and broadcast journalism.
