Joel Brown is an American anchor and reporter working for ABC11 as a noon and 4 p.m. news anchor and reporter for the 11 p.m. newscast. He joined the ABC11 news team in September 2011.
The suburban Philadelphia is where Joel was born and brought up. He attended Howard University where he graduated in 2001, with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Education. Prior to joining The ABC11 Eyewitness News Team, Brown worked for the Washington-based CBS affiliate where he served as a correspondent for almost 4 years. While he worked at CBS, he covered politics from Capitol Hill to The White House. John also traveled the country while following national news stories such as; weeks on the road covering the historic 2008 presidential election.
In addition, Joel recorded live at Kennedy Space Center on the final launch of NASA’s space shuttle program. Brown has also worked for WSVN in South Florida, Miami’s innovative Fox affiliate, where he served as a reporter and fill-in anchor for three years. Furthermore, Brown’s story gave him his career break-out in 2005 when he covered the minute-by-minute details of the Terri Schiavo “right to die” case. Joel also has the opportunity to cover tropical weather such as; the ’05 Hurricane season, which was the busiest on record. Prior to working in Miami, Brown started his television career at KETK, the NBC affiliate in Tyler, Texas where he served as the 5 p.m. and education beat reporter.
