John Shumway is an American anchor working for KDKA as a morning anchor. He first joined the KDKA news team in October 1988, as a general assignment reporter.
While working at kDKA, Shumway has served as an anchor of the morning and weekend newscast. He has also served as a general assignment reporter for the 4 pm, 5 pm, and 6 pm newscasts. After returning to KDKA, John works as a morning traffic, and news anchor on The KDKA Morning News.
In addition, Shumway started his broadcasting career at WLAP Radio in Lexington, Kentucky where he was a disc jockey while still in college. After having graduated from college, John began his news career at the WLAP Radio newsroom. He then relocated to Louisville, Kentucky in 1979, where he worked at WHAS Radio News. He also worked at WHAS-TV News where he worked for 2 years as a reporter.
Furthermore, John attended Eastern Kentucky University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism in 1978. Over the years, Shumway has received recognition in his broadcasting career in the nation, state, and region. John has received a Columbia DuPont Citation and two Emmy awards in his career. During his leisure time, he enjoys; singing, hiking, listening to music, and singing with his friends in the choir at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
