Danita Harris is an American Emmy-Award Winning anchor working for News 5 as an anchor for Good Morning Cleveland and News5 at noon. She joined the News 5 news team in 1998, after previously working for WJLA-TV.

Harris graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, MD. She is a highly respected and beloved figure at WEWS (News 5 Cleveland), and has had a remarkable career spanning nearly 25 years. She joined News 5 in 1998 and held various roles, including being part of the “Morning Exchange” and later anchoring “Good Morning Cleveland” and NewsChannel5 at noon. Additionally, she briefly worked at WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C., before returning to WEWS.

“I believe to everything there is a season. So, after 24 years at WEWS, my season has come to an end,” she expressed. “I feel blessed to have started my relationship with Northeast Ohioans on the morning show, and I’m leaving the station as the morning anchor. I’ve completed the circle, and it’s time for me to move on.” She emphasized that the decision to leave was entirely hers.
Coworkers were notified of her departure during an all-staff meeting, and she will officially announce it to viewers on Good Morning Cleveland tomorrow. Her last broadcast is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 21. News 5 plans to celebrate Harris from Monday through Thursday next week during her final shows on Good Morning.
